LOAVES for Christmas 2017
Shop locally this Christmas with LOAVES
Many Ashhurst and Pohangina Valley businesses are accepting LOAVES at face value through Christmas 2017, so there are lots of opportunities to use LOAVES during the Christmas season and live your commitment to local community and the local economy. We do encourage those with LOAVES to spend by Christmas, because many businesses are taking the vouchers on a trial basis only. We are planning to wind up the LOAVES pilot project between January-March 2018 and consider a more robust model for our next LOAVES launch, which may be awhile.
LOAVES Christmas raffle on 9 December
LEAP ran a successful Christmas market on 9 December in conjunction with the Church Fair, Skate park opening, and Christmas parade. Hats off to the many people who made the day a success: I'd like to make special mention of our own market coordinator, Helen King. Cooperation means extra communication and we're grateful for all who put in the effort and all who gave their gifts to enrich our community in any way.
The market also saw our LOAVES Christmas raffle, drawn by the musicians Jane and Jane to support LEAP Treasurer Phil Stevens. We're still contacting a last couple of winners. Get in touch if you'd like a list of winners and prizes.
We'd like to thank all the businesses who donated prizes. (See sidebar). We'd also like to thank those who offered prizes: in the end, we didn't collect a few as there was insufficient uptake for raffle purchases. Nonetheless, we remain equally grateful to:
- Bethany's Baked Goods
- LEAP Fitness/Reshape NZ
- Payton & Me
Finally, we'd like to note that many volunteers were key to this LOAVES promotion, with special mention to Anne Van-Brunt and Harvey Jones as well as the entire LEAP board.
This is the last big promotion of our two-year pilot of LOAVES. At its peak, we had between 1300-1400 LOAVES in circulation. A full report on outcomes will be released after the close of the LEAP financial year (March 2018).
