Ashhurst Community Market

About the market

Ashhurst Community Market takes place from 10am-1pm the second Saturday of every month (bar June, July and August), on the Village Green and in the grounds of Ashhurst Community Library, or at the Village Valley Centre.

The inaugural market was held in October 2015 and since then markets have attracted 20-40 sellers, and customers from all over the Manawatu.

The focus of the market is to offer the opportunity to local producers and businesses to showcase what they do, and communicate who they are in a relaxed and enjoyable Saturday morning community setting. Though priority is given to Ashhurst-Pohangina based businesses, sellers from outside the area are also welcome to express interest.

The market also serves the purpose of encouraging people to understand and appreciate what is available in their community and to make choices to buy locally to increase community resilience, connectedness and friendships.

Each market has a different flavour that reflects the seasons and what they offer. Music is a key component and many talented musicians entertain an appreciative public. Local community organisations are also given the opportunity to fundraiser and awareness raise.
